We're back from a wonderful long weekend in Santa Fe, NM. We are also the new very very proud owners of the red corn maiden in this picture (the one in the back, second to right). This man is Hopi, and he carves these pieces. It is by strict laws that the Hopi do their carvings from cottonwood roots. This picture really doesn't do the pieces any justice. Let's just say that we came back to his booth 3 times in 2 days and were almost in tears when we decided to purchase. The Indians touch our hearts in ways that cannot be explained.
